Volunteering Through a Simple Thank You

By Beth ClineI’ve been privileged throughout both my personal and professional life to have many different volunteer roles as a way to connect with my neighbors and our community. Volunteering is a part of who I am. And it is why I do what I do. Spending time volunteering leads you to find the joy of serving others and helping to improve our community by giving our time and energy where it is needed. I hope, like me, you volunteer because of the passion you have for the mission of the organization, but also because giving back does something for you personally. I strongly believe volunteering not only helps solve problems, strengthen communities, and improve lives - but it helps you connect with others and transform your life. So, with everything going on in the world right now - what can you do today to make a difference for tomorrow? Given the current state of our community, it can be tricky to navigate our feelings about how to respond to crisis. COVID-19 has given us all a little more time to think about how we can make a difference. All we want is for things to be safe and healthy for our families and neighbors, and to help where we can. When our community is suffering, our first thought is how we can lend a hand. Sometimes the difference is as easy as saying thank you. Essential workers across Central Indiana are working tirelessly on the front lines serving and supporting our neighbors during this challenging time. Help us show our support and how grateful we are for these heroes and for all they have done during COVID-19 by sending them a virtual Thank You card. United Way has partnered with local organizations across the six counties we serve to ensure your messages of thanks and gratitude are delivered directly to those making an impact on how our community responds to this crisis. It only takes a moment of your time to send a quick personalized note of thanks to brighten someone’s day! Click HERE to share your love with these heroes! Beth Cline is the Senior Director of Volunteer Engagement at United Way of Central Indiana.
