United Way supporter wins trip to Super Bowl 50
Local GEICO employee receives Colts prize package that includes Super Bowl 50 tickets, airfare and accommodations
Longtime Colts fan, Tyffani Collins, is heading to Super Bowl 50 on Feb. 7 at Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, CA, thanks to a special promotion by the Indianapolis Colts. Collins joined United Way of Central Indiana and the Indianapolis Colts for an announcement and media event this morning at the Colts Complex. Ann D. Murtlow, President & CEO, United Way of Central Indiana, and Kalen Irsay, Vice Chair/Owner, Indianapolis Colts, presented the prize package, which contains Super Bowl tickets, airfare and accommodations. The promotion, in its sixth year, encourages new or increased gifts of $150 to United Way of Central Indiana. Collins, an auto insurance sales agent at GEICO, supports United Way through the company’s workplace giving program because she “grew up knowing what it’s like to need.” Collins admits she had no idea when she made a contribution this year that she would be among 3,750 other donors eligible to win a Super Bowl prize package. When Collins received the good news from United Way that she won, she knew exactly whom she was going to take – her mom. “I definitely inherited the love of sports from my mom,” shared Collins. “I remember growing up celebrating Super Bowl Sunday with a lot of people at our house.” This year alone, the fundraising incentive raised more than $1.8 million – which has a significant impact on helping United Way of Central Indiana raise money needed for critical programs and organizations that help Central Indiana residents become self-sufficient. Every dollar raised through United Way is another dollar toward supporting programs and agencies making strides in education, income, health and basic needs.
