United Way of Central Indiana to move headquarters by end of 2016
New leased space at 29th and Meridian streets to serve as inspiring, central location for UWCI staff and volunteers
For nearly a century, United Way of Central Indiana’s (UWCI) mission has been to move its community into action so that all families and individuals can achieve and maintain self-sufficiency. Now, UWCI will physically move from its outdated headquarters to a more efficient space and central location in order to better serve its region.
Built in 1969, the current facility at 3901 N. Meridian Street was purchased by UWCI in 1992. Extensive feasibility studies have shown that the building requires significant renovations and repairs and is double the square footage of what UWCI requires to house its operations. After analyzing all options including purchasing a new building, remodeling the current building, or leasing space, the UWCI board approved the building’s sale to Flaherty and Collins Development and signed a 15-year lease for 40,000 square feet of space at 2955 N. Meridian Street (the current State Auto building).
UWCI’s new headquarters will be a modern, open concept design and will be a more efficient use of space for its staff, partners and volunteers. UWCI is currently in a lease-back arrangement for its current location and will relocate by the end of 2016.
