United Way of Central Indiana now accepting applications for the 2017 Youth Leadership United Program
High school freshmen, sophomores and juniors from Boone, Hamilton, Hancock Marion and Morgan Counties are encouraged to apply to United Way leadership program
Indianapolis, IN (September 13, 2016) – United Way of Central Indiana is now accepting applications for the 2017 Youth Leadership United Program. This United Way program teaches high school students about the nonprofit sector and how to serve on a nonprofit board. Youth Leadership United believes young people can be influential within an organization when provided with the appropriate resources.
“Each year, I am so impressed with the outstanding youth in our community who get involved with Youth Leadership United,” said Annie Smith, United Way’s Youth Engagement Manager. “We are looking for high school students who are interested in community issues, volunteerism, developing leadership skills and serving on nonprofit boards alongside adults.”
Youth Leadership United aims to develop and nurture the skills of a diverse group of our community’s young leaders through a variety of training activities and experiential learning opportunities. The program also grows the pool of young people who have the skillset to provide value to youth-serving nonprofits and other organizations.
High school freshmen, sophomores and juniors who live in Boone, Hamilton, Hancock, Hendricks, Marion or Morgan counties may submit their application through the United Way website. United Way will select 30 students to go through the program, which begins in January. The deadline to apply is October 24, 2016. The selection announcement will be made in December, 2016.
