Want to become an accredited community organization with United Way? Applications for new partners are due Nov. 1
INDIANAPOLIS – United Way of Central Indiana is accepting applications through Nov. 1 from nonprofits seeking accreditation. United Way is looking to accredit new community-based organizations working in human services that:
Align with United Way’s impact strategies of basic needs, education, health and financial stability;
Serve people in Boone, Hancock, Hamilton, Hendricks, Marion, Morgan and Putnam counties;
Meet the legal requirements for nonprofits in Indiana and comply with government requirements and regulations.
Accreditation allows nonprofits to apply for United Way impact funding. Other benefits include increased visibility, access to capacity-building resources, and connections with partners and volunteers.
Based on an analysis of current needs and gaps in services, this year United Way is only accepting new accreditation applications from community-based organizations that meet the eligibility criteria and address the following geographic or service areas:
Align with any of United Way’s impact strategies and serve the priority Marion County zip codes of 46218, 46201, 46222, 46226, 46208, 46224, 46225, 46235, 46241, 46203
Align with any of United Way’s impact strategies and serve clients in Boone, Hamilton, Hancock, Hendricks, Morgan or Putnam counties
Provide programs or services that include one or more of the following: adult education; adult or youth workforce development; mental, behavioral health or substance abuse services

Interested nonprofits should review the accreditation guidebook for more details. Agencies must complete both the organizational and governance applications.
Applications are due by 5 p.m. Nov. 1 and can be submitted online through United Way’s community portal. Accreditation questions should be sent to accreditation@uwci.org.
