Oh Snap! Matt Overton Joins United Way Team
Across the country, NFL clubs and players are working with United Ways to advance health and education for America’s young people through national and local initiatives like the NFL & United Way Hometown Huddle and United Way TEAM NFL. The 2016 football season has brought new opportunities for fans to join United Way through the Character Playbook, an education initiative focused on youth character development and healthy relationships.
Locally, United Way of Central Indiana continues to partner with the Indianapolis Colts to achieve these goals. This season marks the addition of a great teammate to United Way of Central Indiana: Colts long snapper Matt Overton.
Overton is no stranger to charitable endeavors in Central Indiana. Through his own acts of kindness and partnering with local agencies, Overton has made it a mission to help improve the lives of those in his community.
To kickoff his partnership with United Way, Overton will lead next week's Hometown Huddle event. The project is part of the NFL’s PLAY 60 initiative, which encourages youth to be active at least 60 minutes each day. United Way and the Indianapolis Colts will transform a room at a local nonprofit into a Colts Fitness room to be used by hundreds of youth each week providing them with a fun and safe place to be active indoors. Additionally, the Colts donated $1 for every ticket distributed at their September 25th home game to United Way of Central Indiana.
