Honoring Our Past and Recognizing Our Future

There is no such thing as self-taught or self-made – and the late Bill Mays was no exception. He worked tirelessly to make our community great, and had support from friends, colleagues and neighbors along the way. He impacted countless lives and stewarded important business ventures and partnerships. Early on, he recognized that we are stronger when we are united.

On Tuesday, May 16th, Lacy Johnson, Partner at Ice Miller and Alan Mills, Partner at Barnes & Thornburg co-hosted a special event honoring Fay Williams and Bill Mays who co-founded the Minority Key Club – which today is known as the Diversity Leadership Circle.

Fay and Bill understood the profound impact United Way had on individuals and families in our community. They led by example, as champions of philanthropy and as hard-working, respected professionals in our community. They nurtured young leaders and developed many networking opportunities that we benefit from today.

To honor Fay and Bill’s legacy, the next generation of community thought-leaders, field experts and advocates for justice were invited to join Lacy and Alan in their philanthropic efforts to support United Way.
