Finding Help, Hope and Opportunity through a Day of Caring
Mellanie Brady was in high school when she first walked through the doors of Mary Rigg Neighborhood Center. She remembers finding help, hope and opportunity at the time. This time around, she found a way to give back thanks to the Gene B. Glick Company and its annual Day of Caring. "It feels great and I love that Glick gives us the opportunity to give back,” she said with a smile. “I absolutely love it.” Mellanie was one of more than 100 Glick team members from central Indiana who gathered to volunteer on various projects at Mary Rigg, a United Way of Central Indiana (UWCI) community partner. "Our company cares deeply about corporate social responsibility and we're excited to be here,” said David Barrett, president and CEO at Glick. “The United Way of Central Indiana has been a long-standing partner of ours and we take pride in hosting volunteer events together to benefit and boost the community.” Glick’s Day of Caring kicks off its annual UWCI Workplace Campaign. Glick also formed a formed a strategic partnership with UWCI in 2018. From the freshly painted gym to the updated landscaping, Glick’s impact and enthusiasm during the Day of Caring was hard to miss for Andrew Lee, the mission director at Mary Rigg. "The special part when a team like Glick comes through is the connection,” he said. “The Gene B. Glick Company is synonymous with investing in families and their support truly helps us to deliver our mission.” The results of Glick’s Day of Caring at Mary Rigg will continue to resonate as the neighborhood center empowers youth, adults and families with before- and after-school programs, summer day camps, employment and financial coaching, job leads, a food pantry and more.
