Ongoing Volunteer Opportunities
Volunteer Center
Our volunteers are as different as the communities we serve -- and we have the opportunities to match! Find one that connects your talents with the causes you care about to make a meaningful difference in Central Indiana. Take a look through our volunteer center to see the various organizations that are in need of a volunteer like you!
Indy Free Tax Prep
Volunteers are an essential part of Indy Free Tax Prep. The number of trained and dedicated volunteers directly affects the number of residents who can be served. Build your resume by gaining a valuable and marketable skill, expand your knowledge of federal tax return procedures and serve local citizens and help stimulate the local economy.
ReadUP
ReadUP connects volunteers with local schools, where they read to two students for 30 minutes every week, helping kids get on track - and stay on track - with grade-level literacy. We know that children who read at or above grade-level are more likely to succeed in school and in life.
One Day Volunteer Opportunities
Day of Caring
Serve as the United Way of Central Indiana liaison at corporate volunteer opportunities! Gather liability waivers, participant information, take pictures and share the United Way mission with new audiences. Let us know what kind of project you're interested in and we will match your group to the perfect volunteer opportunity.
Moment to Movement
Individuals gain perspective through an immersive, interactive simulation that allows them to experience life as part of a low-income family. To make it work, we need volunteers to serve as community business owners for approximately three hours.
Once you've picked a few ways to volunteer during National Volunteer Month, let us know about it! Share your volunteer project on social media and tag us using @uwci and the hashtags #uwci100 and #nationalvolunteermonth.
