Ann Murtlow named as a 2020 Torchbearer

Today, First Lady Janet Holcomb and the Indiana Commission for Women (ICW) honored six extraordinary Hoosier women with the Torchbearer Award. One of these recipients was our very own, Ann Murtlow.

The award recognizes women from around the state who have broken down barriers, overcome obstacles to women's full participation, and have made Indiana a better place to live, work and raise a family. Recipients have overcome or continue to confront immense challenges with courage, perseverance, and compassion.

They demonstrate character, resiliency, and leadership and have made significant contributions to their communities and to Indiana.

Summarizing the nomination, "Ann is a pioneer, a catalyst, and a game changer for the State of Indiana. She's led United Way through profound change, in pursuit of a positive impact on the health and well-being of every person in the community. With great humility, Ann has bulldozed through glass ceilings in her career, inspiring so many women to do the same. Ann proves every day that she will either find a way -- or make one -- for women, underrepresented populations, individuals and families in Central Indiana.”

Congratulations Ann! To read more about the award and the other recipients, please see the press release here.
