350 Kits and Counting!

On March 22, an energetic group of volunteers, met at the offices of Katz, Sapper and Miller to assemble Literacy Kits for On My Way Pre-K programs.  We had over 50 volunteers and this translated into 4 assembly lines that worked hard on assembling 350 kits. This was accomplished in about an hour from 8 – 9 am thanks to the efficiency of our great women volunteers!  Women United’s goal for 2016 is to assemble and deliver 1000 kits and thanks to the generosity of the Lacy Foundation, we have the funds to buy supplies for those kits. Many thanks to Jill Lacy for this gift and her attendance and support at the event.   We channeled the power of the Women of United Way in order to help some of the neediest children in our community. The supplies and books provided in these kits are designed to make reading and creative activities fun and interactive to enhance the educational experience of the children in our community.

Look for our next build on June 16th and also times in late summer to help deliver the kits and see first-hand the excitement of all the children.
